While you may be busy working on entrepreneurial projects or preparing for exams, case competitions are a great way to enhance your practical skills while increasing your network.

Although many case competitions are only available for students pursuing a degree at the same University, the following is a list of international case competitions available for any student, no matter where you study:

L’Oreal Brandstorm

Started in 1992, L’Oreal’s Brandstorm case competition has enabled more than 70,000 students across the globe to compete against each other and be coached by top L’Oréal executives. Finals will take in Paris, and the winning team receives €10,000.

Google Online Marketing Challenge

Teams consisting of 3 to 6 members can take part in Google’s Marketing Challenge. With a budget of $250, student’s task is to run and develop an online advertising campaign for business or non-profit organisations over a three week period. KPMG International Case Competition

KPMG’s Case Competition is a world-class forum for students from across the globe. National winning teams will be invited to Dubai to compete against each other. In 2014, finalists were asked to provide strategic advice to a global oil and gas company.

HULT Global Case Challenge

Supported by the Clinton Global Initiative, the Hult Prize Challenge receives more than 10,000 applicants each year, with the aim of building sustainable and scaleable social enterprises to address early childhood education in urban slums and beyond. The winning team receives $1,000,000 in startup funding.

Aspen Institute Case Competition

Only for MBA students, the world renowned Aspen Institute offers students from across the globe to work on real life challenges. The top 5 student teams will be invited to the final round in New York, and the winning team receives a check worth $15,000.

McGill Management International Case Competition

Claiming to be the world’s friendliest case competition, McGill’s competition involves 12 teams worldwide, and will take a total of 6 days, including half of them for social activities and networking.

Copenhagen Business School Case Competition

Taking place each year in late February, the Danish case competition is sponsored by firms such as Boston Consulting Group, Danske Bank and Carlsberg Group. Last year, more than 12 universities from across the globe participated, and 5 teams got invited to compete at the finals in Copenhagen.

University of Washington Global Business Case Competition

Founded in 1999, the case competition takes place each year at Washington’s Foster School of Business, and it usually attracts numerous universities from the United States and beyond.

CIMA Global Business Challenge

Organized by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the challenge is a great way to get in touch with Barclays, its main partner for the event. Team from more than 26 different countries participate each year, and the strongest teams meet in the finals, which take place in Warsaw, Poland.

National Real Estate Challenge

Taking place at at the University of Texas at Austin, the Real Estate Challenge is only open to American Universities. Sponsored by JP Morgan, previous participating institutions include Columbia, Cornell and the University of Southern California.
