Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) 2016

Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) supports entrepreneurially minded students who are strongly committed to improving our society through creating solutions to resolve challenging global social problems.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) will take place in Munich, Mexico City and Shanghai. GESS 2016 focuses on the topic MIGRATION and will take place from September 10-16, 2016.

During the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS), 105 outstanding students located in three cities around the world: Munich, Shanghai & Mexico City – will get together and experience real entrepreneurship with a social impact. Simultaneously with two other cities, you will work in international and interdisciplinary teams to develop ideas that have both a sustainable impact for society and a self-sustaining, profitable business model.

Over the course of 7 days, you will learn all about entrepreneurship, develop your own sustainable business ideas, and build a long-lasting network of talented and entrepreneurial international friends. A series of interactive lectures by renowned entrepreneurs structure the project work and provide you with complementary knowledge (e.g. business planning or topic-specific issues).  Throughout the GESS, your team is partnered with coaches who provide you and your team with feedback and assistance on your project, business plan, and technical questions.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) approaches the important role of combining education, entrepreneurship, and networking for sustainable development.

The vision of GESS is based on the philosophy of creating claim “billion dollar projects to foster Societal change“. What they want is to encourage and connect outstanding students from all over the world to challenge society’s problems by entrepreneurial means.

Eligibility 

Undergraduate and graduate students, aged between 18 and 27, from all fields are welcome to apply (e.g., design, computer science, business economics, humanities, social sciences). You must be enrolled at a university at some point during the 2016 calendar year.

Criteria

• You think and act entrepreneurially at the highest level
• You are deeply motivated to find answers to the most challenging problems in our global society
• You are highly engaged in student initiatives or community efforts
• You have a strong command of and proficiency in English
• You are academically strong within your field of studies
• You are committed to peace and act in a responsible manner
• You are a strong team player, are open-minded, have a sense of humor, and are interested in working in international and interdisciplinary teams.

Application process

This year, 105 outstanding students will be accepted from around the world who will get an invitation to attend the GESS program either in Munich, Shanghai or Mexico City. All applications will go through a very strict, but fair selection process due to the high number of applications received every year.
