The EB-5 Visa overview

The EB-5 Visa was introduced in 1990 by the Immigration Act as an opportunity for the foreign investors to commit a minimum of $500,000 in exchange for a green card.

The investment is used to support the projects focusing on economic development in low-income areas. It must also create or sustain at least 10 jobs. Once granted, the Visa covers an entire family, including spouse and children.

According to the U.S. Commerce Department, the program has generated $5.8 billion in foreign investment and has created more than 174,000 jobs since its inception. It has already supported 562 large economic development projects, with little or no cost to the US taxpayer.

For a foreign investor, it is an opportunity to gain the US Citizenship after a minimum of 5 years of residency in the country. There are no requirements regarding business experience, skills nor education.

A model of a public-private partnership

The introduction of the EB-5 visa has contributed significantly to improving public infrastructure across different cities and states in the US.

Numerous successful implementations of public-private infrastructure projects have been reported in a number of cities, including Baltimore, Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

The realization of the infrastructure projects thanks to the EB-5 funding, have contributed significantly to the growth and revitalization of cities while creating a significant social impact.

The following statistics depict the economic impact generated by EB-5 investments:

Why invest in San Diego?

Currently, San Diego is welcoming foreign investors, particularly from Latin America, India, Vietnam and the UK in its high-growth region. San Diego is the 2nd largest city in California, the 5th largest economy in the world and the city is standing at the precipice of major economic growth, has sustained high returns on real estate investments, and continues to attract venture capital for major innovation projects.

It has a big investment potential to support its economic development and local workforce. Funding a right type of project results in creating mutually rewarding opportunities to invest in the most stable economy in the world.
