i-CREATe Conference 2019

Into its 13th year, i-CREATe continues to provide an International platform of conference, Global Student Innovation Challenge, and exhibition featuring innovative technology, equipment, applications, techniques and materials applied in the field of Assistive & Rehabilitative Technology.

It is also a stage for technical exchanges to share ideas and best practices in the disabilities field from across the countries.

This conference will include a range of presentations (workshops, oral presentations and posters) on the types of assistive technologies available for use in education and employment.

There will also be presentations by people with disabilities using technologies in their daily lives, including education, training and employment.

The objectives of i-CREATe

Who should attend?

Target participants of i-CREATe are: rehabilitation and education professionals working with or implementing the use of assistive technology including suppliers, technologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation engineers, educators, end-users, caregivers, governmental officials, policy staffs, researchers, academicians and the others interested in assistive technology.

Global Student Innovation Challenge

The Global Student Innovation Challenge (gSIC) provides a platform to encourage students from all over the world to compete in developing creative and innovative devices or solutions to improve the quality of living of the elderly and people with disability.

It showcases the talents and abilities of these students while providing an opportunity to work with clients and clinicians to develop these innovative ideas. It also facilitates cooperation and networking among the students and gives them an opportunity to listen to speakers from across the world and region.

Categories

There are 2 categories in this challenge:

Students are expected to apply User-Centered Design process to produce a solution that ‘makes life easier’ for its users or enhance the user experience (UX) or improves the quality of professional rehabilitation practice. The solution may or may not be technology based.

Students are expected to apply principles in Engineering and /or Information Technology to design and implement Assistive & Rehabilitative Technology solution to address the issues/problems faced by the needy, their caregivers and clinicians. The solution must have engineering or technological component(s).

Competition Requirements

This challenge is open to post-secondary education, undergraduates and postgraduates of any discipline. These include Universities, Polytechnics and Institutes of Technical Education students. Submissions are invited from all students at all stages of their academic studies.
