THE Research Excellence Summit Eurasia 2018

Forming part of the Research Excellence Summit series, the Times Higher Education Research Excellence Summit: Eurasia will engage policymakers, award-winning researchers, investors and education leaders in the key issues relating to higher education in Russia and the surrounding states.

It will bring a fresh focus to a rapidly developing and highly ambitious region, highlight the existing global connections that produce research excellence, and explore where future pathways may lie.

After the great success of the Research Excellence Summit: Asia Pacific in Taiwan in June 2017 and the New Europe summit in the Czech Republic in April 2018, this prestigious gathering shifts its concentration this August to Kazan, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. The summit partner is Kazan Federal University, which was founded in 1804, making it the second-oldest Russian university.

Research Excellence: Eurasia – uniting East and West in an emerging world research and innovation hub

The theme of the summit is “Research Excellence: Eurasia – uniting East and West in an emerging world research and innovation hub” and participants will address the challenges and opportunities arising from a rapidly developing economic landscape, with representatives from across the world exploring how research institutions can best support growth in the region.

At the summit, Times Higher Education will also publish, exclusively, the first-ever THE ranking focused on Eurasia nations.

The list of countries in Eastern Europe and Central and Western Asia with universities eligible to be ranked includes Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Republic of Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
