Eligibility: Journalists from Asian countries
Amount: Full grants cover tuition fees, books, and travel (international and domestic) and living expenses for the on-campus sessions.
Location: Core courses are taught using a fusion of online and on-campus methods. Electives and Master’s Projects take place entirely online, while the cognate courses are taken on-campus.
A distance learning program designed for Asian working journalists who seek to develop and leverage the Asian perspective in their work, intensify their commitment to journalism’s ideals, and be at the cutting-edge in a global, technologically sophisticated environment.
A total of 12 courses are taught by an international faculty using blended (i.e. both online and face-to-face learning) methods. The program accepts about 20 students from various Asian countries each year. The program is administered by ACFJ under the Ateneo Department of Communication.
The coursework consists of twelve courses make up the M.A. Journalism program, with a load of four courses per semester, to be completed in two school years.

1 Comprehensive examination
1 Master’s Project: This culminating final project can either be an in-depth report or a study of journalism institutions, practices, and processes. It represents a synthesis of the journalist’s accumulated knowledge, skills, and values. It also provides this journalist the opportunity to contribute insights and new knowledge to Asian journalism as well as to reflect on issues of regional importance.
Courses are taught using Internet-based distance education methods, a truly convenient platform for working journalists. With online classes, they can pursue their studies at their own time and in any place of their choice without major disruptions to their careers and personal lives. Core courses are taught using a fusion of online and on-campus methods. Electives and Master’s Projects take place entirely online, while the cognate courses are taken on-campus.
Fees: Tuition and miscellaneous fees for the entire program add up to about USD 2,000. Accommodations and living expenses cost about USD 300 for the two-week, on-campus sessions in the core and cognate courses, and about USD 900 for the six-week summer semester.
Study grants: The ACFJ Fellowships for MA Journalism sponsor Asian journalists who can demonstrate excellence in their work and are contributing in a significant way to the press in their own societies. Full grants cover tuition fees, books, and travel (international and domestic) and living expenses for the on-campus sessions. Other forms of support are available to senior journalists, teachers, and part-time working journalists.
