Where would you like to see yourself 10 years from now?

When you ask yourself this question what image pops up in your head? What would you like to brag about at the next family reunion or a friend get-together?

Whether you seek a new job, business idea, scholarship, or portfolio expansion, consider these ideas to guide your decision-making process and choose the best opportunity for yourself.

3. Know your strengths and weaknesses

Knowing your unique qualities and weaknesses gives you insights into where you can to improve. With this better understanding of yourself, you have a clear path to success and to maximize your potential.

Try reflecting on your past experiences, school, work, hobbies, and other situations where you could see success or where you encountered a challenge.

You can ask friends, family, mentors, and anyone for honest feedback on your strengths and areas to improve.

Helpful tools for finding your strengths and weaknesses

Here are some questions that can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. You can answer immediately or jot down your responses for a thorough review later.

  • What tasks or projects do you most enjoy doing and which ones seem to drain your energy?
  • What do you think you do better than anyone else, and where do you need the help of others?
  • What do you think you’re good at, what have others complimented you about?
  • What are your hobbies, and why do you enjoy doing them?
  • What resources do you have available, are you confident in your education?
  • What tasks do you usually avoid?
  • Do you have any personality traits that hold you back?

One of the best ways to determine your strengths is to think about when you felt happy and most satisfied with something you did.

Try thinking about situations like that and see what it was, and why you were proud.

Moreover, think about how and why those situations or other factors contributed to your feelings of fulfillment.

If you still need help identifying your strengths and weaknesses, there are also tools you could try using, for example, the Myers-Briggs personality test or strengths finder assessment.

Once you identify your strengths and weaknesses you can either choose to work on your weak spots or take the best advantage of the best in you

2. Identify your goals

When setting new goals consider your interests, so that you can enjoy the process. Identify what opportunities will get you closer to the vision you had at the beginning.

Think about the goals you have already set for yourself if they are achievable, and if they will be something that will make you proud. It is essential to set goals with your capabilities in mind. Failing unrealistic goals will only discourage you in the future.

This is the time to think about the future, what you would like to achieve, and where you see yourself in the next few years.

1. Choose the best opportunity

Knowing your strengths, and weaknesses and having set goals in mind, you are ready. You are ready to take part in new opportunities. Once you know if you’re looking for a new job, a scholarship, fellowship, or any other kind, here is the time to browse sites with such opportunities.
