Skinnovation 2019

Skinnovation is the first startup conference on skis. More than 300 startups, investors, innovative corporates and entrepreneurship enthusiasts meet up to ski together, attend talks in the ski hut and network together.

Pitching happens in the ski lift. Taking place in the capital of the Alps, Innsbruck, and surrounding ski resorts, Skinnovation is literally the coolest startup event in Europe.

Skinnovation is about skiing, innovation & entrepreneurship

As the name already tells, Skinnovation combines skiing and innovation. During Skinnovation startups, investors, innovative corporates and entrepreneurship enthusiasts meet up to ski together, attend talks in ski huts and pitch in the ski lift.

Skinnovation provides an extraordinary setting to work on extraordinary ideas. Great ideas are not born in closed rooms, but when being outside and on the move. Therefore, skiing (snowboarding actually works as well) is the perfect sport because it combines speed, freedom and accidental meetups in the lift. That’s how future ideas are created.

So let’s go Skinnovation 2019!

Skinnovation is happening because things need to be done. Skinnovation#1 started with just 40 brave skinnovators working on the goal to develop ideas to make Innsbruck more innovative and attractive for startups.

After this very successful first pilot, it quickly became clear that Skinnovation is awesome and Skinnovation#2 needs to be bigger and bolder.

Now the fifth edition is being hosted which is still happening in Innsbruck, following the same motivation but, of course, aiming higher and reaching out to skinnovators all over Europe to come together to ski and innovate in the beautiful Tyrolean mountains.

More reasons to participate

• Skiing: Skinnovation will take you to two great ski resorts, namely Axamer Lizum and Schlick2000. Whether you are a beginner or pro, there are plenty of slopes for all level.
• Talks: Listen to inspiring startup stories, learn from experienced entrepreneurs or join one of the discussion rounds. While gathering many top-notch speakers, yet the talks take place in the cosy atmosphere of a ski hut.
• Lift pitch: No fancy Powerpoint presentation, just you and the investors riding up the mountain. The ski lift takes exactly seven minutes and there are always two investors together with one startup in the 4-seat chairlift. The best startups from the lift pitch will get the chance to pitch in front of the crowd on the final evening.
• Network pitch: On the first evening the stage will be yours. Take the chance and pitch your startup in 60 seconds to the Skinnovation crowd. It’s not a competition but the chance to get your idea out to as many people as possible.
• Tyrolean evening: The first evening of the event is themed as Tyrolean evening. So if you are owning a Dirndl or Lederhosen it’s the right time to wear it. Besides, there will be some delicious Tyrolean food and beer for you to try out.
• Table captains: During the Friday evening dinner at the Seegrube, each table is going to be hosted by one expert who will guide an exciting dinner discussion. Get the chance to ask and discuss questions and make valuable contact, all while enjoying some great Tyrolean food.
• Igloo party: Literally the coolest party ever in a giant igloo on 1905m above sea level. Party together with the other skinnovators and enjoy the panoramic view on Innsbruck.
• Ski race: The fastest skiers (and snowboarders) will be awarded some cool prices.
• After party: Even the best things are coming to an end. After the pitch finals, you are invited to the after party at the Soulkitchen. Hit the dance floor where a live band is playing or enjoy some drinks at the bar.
