Throughout the day, each person uses numerous products.

Some of these are used to enhance aesthetic appeal while others are utilized for hygienic purposes. Nonetheless, every man, woman, and child use a handful of products each day.

The brands and products vary significantly. Yet, individuals in the same household often use different items.

One might think that this would indicate the beauty market is large and diverse.

This is a false notion. Actually, only eight companies own the majority of the products that people use all over the world.

Have a look at the Infographic prepared by the team at Dream Models, and look at the overall ownership scheme:

It takes an elite place next to Shiseido, Kao, Coty, L’Oreal, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, and LVMH. Some of these companies are household names. Others are lesser known but the products that they produce are instantaneously recognizable.

Between these brands items such as detergents, makeup, perfumes, and hygienic items have all been conquered.

Whether you shop for more generic brands or pay more for high-quality items, it would seem that:

most of your money ends up in the same place

It is more than likely that at one point or another, almost everyone has bought something from one of these companies.

The implications are quite staggering, particularly when you consider that the beauty industry is a multi-billion dollar one. Furthermore, it continues to grow. This means that these eight institutions each have a very large slice of a very large pie.

These organizations are monopolizing a very powerful industry. Nevertheless, it is intriguing to see how each of these brands are extremely diverse and capable of producing multiple products.

It is also fascinating how they manage to market each of these items as independent from one another. Most people will be quite surprised to see that many of these brands are linked. Particularly as the variances are quite distinctive.

This certainly provides a great deal of food for thought.
