The Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative (YTILI) is a program for emerging entrepreneurs from Europe, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by American Councils for International Education.

The agenda of the YTILI Fellowship program

Engage in virtual leadership, and be matched with a full-time fellow in the U.S. This will allow you to meet potential clients as well as business partners, and build an international network of like-minded professionals. Gain firsthand insights into U.S. business, with comprehensive on-program support, including covered travel and living arrangements.

Entrepreneurship and Professional Development Curriculum

  • Virtual program with fellows participating in an entrepreneurship course
  • Professional one-on-one sessions in development with American experts

Professional Fellowship

  • Individually tailored fellowship experience during a 4-week stay at a U.S host placement
  • Opportunity to participate in U.S community service
  • Action Plan development as a follow-on Fellowship project

Closing Program

  • Program-wide conference in Washington, DC at the end of the fellowship
  • Fellows will be brought together for an opportunity to meet each other, exchange experiences, and their development

Alumni Engagement Opportunities

  • Action Plans Creation to address fellow’s home community challenges
  • Reciprocal Exchange Project: Fellows’ eligibility to invite their placement host into their community

Eligibility for the YTILI Fellowship 2024

YTILI Fellowship 2024 program promotes diversity, and inclusivity, and will consider its applicants without regard for race, religion, color, gender, or disability. However, the following criteria for the fellowship must be met:

  • Age between 25 and 35 at the time of the program (born between October 26, 1988 and September 16, 1999)
    Citizen and resident of the following countries: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine, United Kingdom.
  • Two years of experience in a home country managing a successful entrepreneurial venture.
  • Well-articulated action plan to support during fellowship.
  • Eligibility to receive a U.S. J-1 Visa.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Commitment to return to home country after compilation of the program.
  • Not a U.S. resident or have applied for permanent residency in the U.S.
  • Not a U.S. government employee.

Costs of the program

Upon acceptance, your travel and living arrangements will be covered by the program, as well as emergency health benefits.
