Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems, or AEMS, is an academic summer school that offers a new approach to solving economic, financial and social issues.

The goal of the summer school is to address some of the topical social problems by presenting viable alternatives to current economic models that are putting enormous strains on economic, ecological and social improvement. The summer school focuses on providng .

In addition, AEMS is not a typical summer school because its participants and lectures are from different academic background: economics, engineering, politics, sociology, and law. This approach helps generating diverse ideas and brings different prospectives on the same matter. AEMS offers plenty of room for critical thinking and exchanging of ideas with distinguished experts from multiple scientific fields.

At the end of the summer school you will be able to acquire 5 ECTS credits from the University of National Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) along with the participation certificate.  For this reason the preparatory work, regular attendance, active participation and a short group presentation at the end of the program will be required.

Eligibility

  1. Bachelor, Master, PhD students from all academic fields
  2. Working professional with the interest in the topic

Application

To apply, you need to fill in the following form and submit:

  1. brief motivational statement
  2. curriculum vitae
  3. photo of yourself
  4. a scan or photo of the picture page of your passport
  5. grade list from your university (optional)

Costs

  1. Regular participation:  EUR 1.390- (incl.VAT)
  2. Scholarship recipient: EUR 380,-(incl. VAT)

The course materials, full support from local program manager and tutor, course materials and attendance of all summer school’s activities are included in the fee. Please note that accommodation, personal and travel expenses are not covered.

There is also a possibility to join a single day of the program, if you are unable to participate for the whole duration of the Summer School.

  2. One-day ticket for non-students: EUR 130-(incl. VAT)
