AdamStart Entrepreneurship Challenge 2017

The #AdamStart Entrepreneurship Challenge is an annual initiative organised by 24-year-old social entrepreneur Adam Bradford.

Adam, who is autistic, started his first business in his hometown of Sheffield aged 14 through a local school enterprise competition.

He believes passionately in the power of entrepreneurship to unlock talent and help young people become resilient, self-sustaining citizens who can do good in the world.

His business designs social programmes which address issues relating to young people; in collaboration with young people themselves, in more than 30 countries worldwide.

He has worked with global institutions designing and implementing youth business programmes, for example, Youth Business International, Virgin StartUp and UnLtd – the foundation for social entrepreneurs. Adam received an award from Her Majesty the Queen for his work supporting young people in 2016.

The Challenge

The challenge itself is open to young people aged 18-29 years old who have a new business idea they would like to launch.

The competition rewards one young person each year and the pitching process is competitive. Last year, over 30 countries were represented in the applications. The initiative has been praised by the UK Government and gives one lucky young person up to £1000 as a cash grant towards their start-up, business mentoring support and unparalleled access to networks and media opportunities.

Judging Criteria

Winners for the challenge will be selected via a judging process which will choose a viable, innovative, sustainable and carefully planned entry after initial shortlisting.

The judging panel will consist of businesspeople and the promoter and an independent panellist. No member of the panel will be allowed to judge any entry to which they have a personal, financial or other conflict of interest which may impede upon their decision.

Winners will be notified by 3rd September 2017 by e-mail.
