Best in Design: International Young Design Contest 2017

International design contest Best in Design, formerly known as Design Talent — one of the biggest design competitions in middle Europe — is currently open for entries for its 8th edition. This time the competition includes four categories – product design, industrial design, fashion design and communication design.

The grand announcement of the Best in Design winners will take place on the 28th of April 2017 in Zlín, the Czech Republic as a part of Zlin Design Week.

The seventh year of Design Talent 2016 registered a total of 1,320 submissions. Number of applications compared to the previous year has doubled, reflecting the popularity of the contest at home and abroad.

Competing designs come not only all the way from Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, but also from Singapore, South Korea, Iran, USA, India and Brazil.The gala and award ceremony Design Talent 2016 took place on the April 29th at the Congress Center in Zlin.

Become a winner of the Best in Design and open the door to a lot of options

Submit your application to the largest design contest in Central Europe and the show the international competition what you can do. You can get an internship at a prestigious design firm and win € 4,000 on top of that.

Main prize

  • The best of the best will receive the title of Best in Design 2017. Title providing indelible fame and reputation. The title that will open lots of doors. The title, which is associated with reward in the form of 4 000€ and an internship.
  • The author of the second best work will receive a cash prize in the amount of €300.
  • The author of the third best proposal of each category will receive a prize of €100.

Special Jury Award

It does not end with the TOP 3. The jury will also award the submissions that did not make it to the first places in categories, yet they reached a high-quality standard. Money prize od EUR 200 is awarded to two proposals in the following categories:

  • Award for innovation – social, ecological, technological, material innovation across categories
  • Expert award – the award is intended for authors of exhibitions, design theorists and authors of books, who significantly contributed to the internal debate in the field of mapping history.
