CaseIT is an annual international undergraduate business case competition with a strong Management Information Systems (MIS) focus designed to find the best and brightest in strategic IT case analysis. It is a forum where students from various backgrounds of IT and business can showcase their skills in areas such as teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking to a panel of industry professionals.

CaseIT Business Case Competition 2016

From February 10 to 13, 2016, teams from across the globe will participate in various events including a 24-hour case deliberation and a day of presentations. These presentations will be held at Simon Fraser University’s downtown campuses – SFU Harbour Centre and Segal Graduate School of Business.

The case competition consists of 20 teams, each consisting of three undergraduate students (3rd, 4th, or 5th year) and a team coach or faculty advisor. Participants will have 24 hours to solve and present their team’s solution to a judging panel composed of industry professionals from our sponsor companies which range in a variety of firms.

The competition consists of 3 rounds.

Preliminary Round

Competitors are given a time limit for their presentation, followed by a set time for Q&A. First place teams advance directly to the Final Round, while second place teams advance to the Wildcard Round to compete for a spot in the Final Round.

Wildcard Round

Short pitch of recommendation with a specialised slide deck and no Q&A. Second place teams from each of the tiers in the Preliminary Round advance to the Wildcard Round to compete for the final spot in the Final Round.

Final Round

Full-length presentation during which judges can interject at any point with questions. First place teams from each of the tiers in the Preliminary Round, plus the winner of the Wildcard Round, all advance to the Final round

Fees

The Team Fee is $850 CAD (per team of three (3) students and one (1) team coach or faculty advisor). Moreover, this fee covers all meals and transportation for CaseIT organized events, but does not include the cost of hotel accommodations.

Teams will be required to pay a $350 CAD non-refundable deposit to reserve their spot for the competition.
Each additional team coach, faculty advisor, and/or observer will be $250 CAD.
