Schwarzman Scholars Program is designed to meet the challenges of the 21st century and beyond. Grab this chance to apply for a one-year, fully-funded master’s program designed to build a global community of future leaders who will serve to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world.
Schwarzman Scholars supports up to 200 Scholars annually from the U.S., China, and around the world for a one-year master’s in global affairs at Beijing’s Tsinghua University — ranked first in Asia as an indispensable base for China’s political, business, and technological leadership.
Creating global leadership for the 21st century
China’s interactions with businesses around the world are growing. As future leaders, Schwarzman Scholars will learn from and study in China to create a more peaceful and prosperous future for all.
- Core Curriculum
The core curriculum equips Scholars with the knowledge they need to navigate China’s role in the global economy and global affairs.
- Elective Courses
Scholars choose from elective courses, which they can tailor to satisfy individual career goals while gaining a deeper understanding of the three pillars of the curriculum: China, Leadership, and Global Affairs.
The required capstone project serves as a culmination of Scholars’ academic experience. The project consists of a research paper, case study or policy analysis and can be completed individually or in a group.
- Deep Dive
Innovation and collaboration are built into every aspect of curriculum and co-curricular programming, including the Deep Dive: a two-credit, graded course including an intensive, one-week themed field trip to regions throughout China.
Scholars choose between several core courses designed to analyze leadership from interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and career perspectives. Scholars also select “Leadership in Practice” courses taught by leaders from myriad professions and participate in leadership workshops.
Scholars will receive a comprehensive scholarship, including:

Scholars from around the world live together and engage in unparalleled learning opportunities during their immersive year at the College.
They develop connections with leaders from China and around the world in high-level lectures and our mentorship program, and they participate in internships and projects with local businesses and organizations.
In addition to building professional networks, students develop bonds and gain a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary China while exploring Beijing and beyond on site visits and excursions.
