Sony World Photography Awards 2021: Student Competition

The Sony World Photography Awards 2021: Student Competition rewards and showcases the work of the world’s most talented photography students.

Open to academic institutions worldwide, students are challenged to submit a series of five to ten images responding to a particular brief.

2021 First Brief: Building a better future

For the first brief in the Sony World Photography Awards 2021 Student competition, you are challenged to show a story connected to building a better future.

While 2020 has been a challenging year, there are those who are working towards a better future for all.

Show in five to ten images those communities or individuals wanting to create a more desirable, satisfactory and effective tomorrow.

Your images can be taken on any device, shot in any style – be black & white or colour – and approached from any angle you feel is best. While creative responses are encouraged, it’s key to stick to the brief.

Why participate?

Student Photographer of the Year receives €30,000 worth of Sony digital imaging equipment for his or her institution and inclusion in the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London

10 shortlisted photographers receive flights and accommodation to the Awards ceremony in London, a range of Sony digital imaging equipment, publication in Sony World Photography Awards book and inclusion in the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London.
